Why Do Paranormal Groups Put Moon Phases on Their Sites?

When taking a scientific approach while conducting a paranormal investigation, it is important to note all environmental factors, including the moon phases, solar activity, temperature, weather, etc.  This helps with the tracking of activity to determine if certain environmental patterns affect the types and levels of activity being experienced.

Since the paranormal does not fall into the “laws” of science as they are right now (meaning that a “ghostly phenomena” cannot be reproduced at will within a laboratory), all steps that we take to accurately document this kind of activity, will help to establish paranormal research as a legitimate area of study in the scientific world.  Tracking environmental factors is just one of the many steps taken.

Different Kinds of Ghosts/Haunting's

Residual/Imprint – A form of energy superimposed onto our current day and time.  This energy may take on the form of its deceased human body and it just repeats its actions over and over.  Kind of like a movie that plays over and over.  It is not aware of you, itself, or its surroundings.

Self-Aware/Intelligent – This is believed to be the disembodied spirit of a deceased human that, for whatever reason, is still among the living.  It is aware of what it is doing and is aware of the living around them.

Malevolent/Demonic – Most theories refer to the Fallen Angel or their descendents.  The most widely accepted of these theories is that the demons are the Fallen Angels themselves.  They may appear human-like, but there always seems to be some type of inhuman features as well.

Poltergeist – This is a German word whose definition is “noisy spirit”, which is the way it has been portrayed in movies and is the most commonly held belief as to what a poltergeist is.  Others believe that it is not a spirit at all, but is caused by a living person’s emotional state (usually a young teen but has been known to occur with older people in conflict) and is an involuntary or unconscious type of psychokinesis or telekinesis, both terms that mean basically “mind over matter”. 

Note about Malevolent/Demonic occurrences

Just because a team recognizes that this kind of energy exists does not mean that the group are “devil worshippers” or “carry evil spirits with them”.  It just means that the team is aware that different energies do exist and that when investigating an alleged haunting, caution is always taken until they are aware of what they are dealing with, if anything.  Some groups (including ours) do have team members who are trained to deal with these situations.  To enter into investigations without awareness and knowledge of this existence can be a dangerous practice for an investigative team.
